Legislation is quiet right now, but there is discussion
about continuing financing in 2012 the lobbyist and attorney couple (McCleases) that were under contract in 2011. They received
$36,000 for their services to the NC Dog community. Peter Lunding is the GSDC of Gr Raleigh delegate to the NCFDCs.
Sharon Mall is offering obedience class for our club on Sundays 1st &
3rd Sundays 3:00-4:00 off Lake Boone trail working toward Canine Good Citizen certification. Contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. Also a Star Puppy Program for dogs under a year old is offered by AKC.
Obedience training goes on here at Millbrook Exchange Park thru the city of Raleigh,

AKC CGC test on week 8. Ellen Marshburn, the Raleigh KC Obedience Chair, is the lead senior trainer. Classes begin the Wednesday
following the Raleigh KC Labor Day show or the Wednesday following the March Tarheel shows.
9/11 SAR and memorial web site is located at http://www.findingoneanother.org, http://www.gsdca.org/events/working-dog-recognition and http://www.tailsofhopefoundation.org.
There will be a SAR memorial
service and dedication at Freedom Park in NJ on 9 11 11.
Christmas party will be December 7 at Ragazzi’s in Garner, at 7:00 or 6:30. Keep posted for more details.
Sept. 24, from 10-2 is the AKC Responsible Dog Owners Day at the NC
Fairgrounds. It will be held in the Holshouser building, which is near the Sam Rand grandstands. We need 2 people to set up
and man the booth until noon, and 2 people to relieve them and man the booth and take down at 2pm. Bill Pfeiffer will bring
German Shepherd hand out material. AKC will provide other hand out material. Dogs are welcomed to assist in this outreach
to the general public, so as a volunteer – please contact Bill at email@example.com.
The NCSU Vet School is hosting the annual Dog Olympics at their new medical building. Raleigh kennel club will host
a free microchip clinic. One per family, bring your dog if you have not gotten them micro chipped.
We discussed putting microchip tags on the dogs’ collars. Seems best to put YOUR phone number on the tag, so
someone else could not transfer the dog to their own name by knowing the chip information.
Next month’s meeting features Donnie Harrison Wake County Sherriff’s K-9 program at 7:00.
Looking toward show time in March: Kathy Potter will be the GSDC of
Gr Raleigh Specialty Judge on Friday, March 23, 2012 and Joe LaRosa has been invited as the judge for March 24, 2012. These
will be out door specialty shows at the NC Fair Grounds. The Participating all-breed clubs will also host their GSD events
outdoors. Bob Slay, from Cary, will be one of the Specialty judges for the March 2013 Specialty show. The SE GSDCofA Regional
Futurity will be held Saturday, March 23, 2013. Gary Szymczak will be invited to be the Futurity/Maturity judge. Suggestions
for the 2nd specialty judge are welcomed.
Hallee finished her championship. Hallee’s dam has now met all the qualifications to be awarded the GSDCofA
title of Register of Merit (ROM). And Deeda’s Marco and his sister both finished their AKC
championships on the same weekend (Marco got his champion in 2 weeks!)
